Yes, by learning how to drive better. As bad as that sounds, it's the honest truth. You could get stickier tires to help hide it, but that'll just give him a false sense of confidence in his driving.

And yes it's definitely possible for an S2k understeer...it happens when you make a driving mistake. Happened to me at the track once when I pushed into a corner too fast...not a good feeling.

Most people think not oversteering = understeering. Understeering is NOT good, understeering is one of the scariest things that could happen while your driving. Imagine having the wheel turned, but your car keeps going straight, that's understeer.

You don't want understeer or oversteer man. Those are bad. And it depends on the tires and driver skills.

Dive into a corner late..... Ap2s will understeer! (at least an 06), partly my fault, otherwise the change in spring rates, which honda changed to reduce the snap oversteer found in the Ap1s. I feel the AP2s have been neutered of a bit of balance, softening the rear to actually push deep in a corner. Im trying to find somewhere tween... with aftermaket springs.

Yea, you can get massive understeer, even from the MY00-01 cars. You can get the front end to push badly under trailing brake, and keep it pushing all the way through a turn, though retaining the push under throttle is harder than getting it started under trailing brake. However, the early cars like yours have a strong bias toward oversteer, and I think you are asking if that can be changed. If that's the question, then the answer is also "yes." For MY08 Honda has changed the bias of the base car heavily into the understeer zone, and you can do the same thing with any MY car. A stiffer FSB is the easiest way. Gendron makes bars with three different center sections for large changes, and adjustable links for smaller adjustments, so you can dial in the handling bias either way (more or less over/under steer) to suit the venue and your driving style.

Put larger tires on the back relative to the front, remove the RSB, add a really stiff FSB, and downsize the front tires, and you can make the car plow like a pig, if that's what you're looking for. Same thing pretty much applies to any car. Handling can always be dialed in to suit a particular venue or driving style.

FWIW, I agree that the early AP1's could be a little quicker with a little less oversteer.
