Default Understeer!

Hi all,

had my S2000 for 10 days now .. its a 1999 with stock suspensions, Volks 17" tires with Toyo Proxes T1-R which appear to be in good condition.

The problem is understeer, which I really did not expect from this car. For example, when entering a roundabout, you must enter with a really slow speed. Otherwise, it will just understeer into the corner, without the possibility of some oversteering fun.

I just made a wheel alignment this morning, with stock readings. The tire pressures are 24 PSI all round. According to the previous owner (who used to drive it REALLY well), 24 is too high .. he used to leave them with just 15 PSI .. however, I am afraid to leave them this low, dont want to break any rims !!

Any suggestions or ideas? Is this normal after all?

Thanks

Did you check for spring spacers? Is your rear swaybar bolted in tight?

Get those tires up to 32-35 psi ! The last owner is an idiot, 15 psi can kill you ! , 24 is only a bit safer than 15 , and the sidewalls will roll over on you causing terrible handling.

Check your suspenion make sure the rear sway bar and links are in tact

The tire sizes you have will induce some understeer but isn't the main cause of your extreme understeer issue.

that's too low, read the manual, and when you finish reading the manual, read it again, and when ur done doing that....

the manual is your friend, fear it not.

inflate your tires to the proper level.

15 PSI

Dude the F1 teams are always looking for a tire engineer with mad skills give them his number.

That "driver" was a tard king for suggesting that.

Go to driving school learn to drive

You can tune the car with tire pressure but you have a steep learning curve if your coming from a Civic.

15 PSI

A new one born everyday it seems

Not sure i could trust someone who thinks driving at 15psi is the optimal psi. I think he lost his creditability as someone who drove the car very "well"

LOL at 15 psi and even 24 psi. Horribly low and destroying all handling of the car. Get it up to 32-34 psi as other have mentioned where it should be.
Previous owner was obviously clueless about the car..
