you know what... you got me thinking.
you might be right ..

i've been noticing something lately.. i thought it was normal but now i'm having my doubts.

on my toyo t1-r, i sometimes find a nice, flat, small-ish deserted roundabout (late at night) and practice drifting around it.
i noticed that at first, its quite hard to break traction and drift... it seems to grip .. and then totally lose traction (and it will spin).
after half a minute or so, once the tires get heated up, it starts to lose traction immediately .. and its much easier to control the drift.
after some more time drifting, the tires lose even more grip... and the slightest blip on the throttle will send the car sideways

dont get me wrong, its FUN! now i just do a couple of donuts prior to the roundabout ... it makes it easier to drift

but is it normal for street tires (t1-r) to lose their grip when hot? or does it mean that they "went shit", as throttlejack has so kindly put it?

@throttlejack .. i appreciate your post and it is what you said that got me thinking. today i made quite a bit of research on the dunlops, and i have read nothing but good stuff about them. i will check if they import them locally this week ... maybe you've made my choice that much easier when my current tires go totally caput

oh btw .. what are the benefits of left foot braking? why should you do it?
