undervaluing the S2000
I needed a cheap in between car when I sold my E39 M5. After driving the S everyday after about a year. I have to admit I am not ready to let it go just yet. I am still going to get a nicer car, but I might just keep the S as a 2nd car.
I purchased my s2000 after getting tired of the 91 accord I had (185whp). So I am used to the lack of torque, and high revving. But I just wanted something I could have fun in, be proud of, and something that wasnt a dime a dozen. Only to find out that silver is a dime a dozen!
It was more than I wanted to spend, and actually after the first test drive, I thought to myself "damn.. this is a tiny car." I am only 21, and have driven 2 1991 accords so far, but wanted to try rwd.
In the running was the s2k, an is300, and possibly a mustang. I never really gave the mustang much thought, since I wasnt sure if I was going to be able to find a good cobra, and IMO, anything but a cobra is just a rental car. The is300 was nice, but not fast by any means, and finding a manual was a pain.
I hope to have this car for quite some time. My next purchase is a house, so this is going to have to keep me happy for a while. Down the road, you gotta upgrade, but hopefully by then I'll be able to keep the S as a project/track car. I am already eyeing the Cayman and GT3's
But I dont regret it at all. I somewhat do on the level that if I would have just kept trucking with the accord, then I would end up with at least 13k extra in the bank for a house. But in the long run... oh well.

I'm a hardcore freak for my S. It's my daily driver and I don't want anything else. When I first saw the car, I fell in love with it. In my opinion, for the fit and finish, quality, maintenance, and RELIABILITY, you'd have to pay 3 times the price. Honda obviously amortizes the car to keep the price down. If they put the car out for $45,000 with more torque, everyone would swoon and say it's a wonder. We should enjoy it t for what it is; a world class sports car at a bargain price.

i got this car as an upgrade from the crx...
when i first got it in febuary, i was like, "yeah this it, this is the one, also cuz i cant afford anything more..."
now i have plans to sell it when its paid off in about 4-5 yrs... and buy a used 02 nsx
...
and that will really be it! that will be the one, for sure cuz i wont be able to afford anything more lol

i dont agree with the statements like you'd need to spend 2 or 3 times the money to get anything as good. truth is that if you spend that much, besides the nsx, you'll be getting a less reliable car that will prob less fun to drive cuz it's weighed down by insulation, luxury features, you'll worry about every ding since the car does cost that much, etc.
I was in the market for an E46M3 when I ended up with the S due to lack of Garage in my first home. I originally looked at the S in 00 when they first came out but strayed away due to mark ups in Hawaii. In 02 I looked again at the S but the lack of torque that was making all the reviews kept me from pulling the trigger. When the 04 AP2 Rolled around.... I was SOLD. It wasn't an M3 but I was confident that THIS was what I wanted to drive.
The S has been a great experience and has turned out to be the best car I've owned and had the pleasure of driving at it's limits.
I waited 6 months before Supercharging and will tell you that driving a Supercharged S or any FI version is another experience that I wish ALL owners could experience. The extra power on tap made the whole ownership experience 10X better.
I have since gone back to N/A and given the car to the wife to enjoy and it has more than enough power for her.
Certain cars are on my list to own...simply because I know that they are state of the art in design and engineering. The S was one of those cars that I thought would slip through the cracks and that I would never have the chance to drive. Fortunately it worked out and I will one day look back and know that I experienced a true performance car.
The next 2 cars in my sites are the E92M3 and the Lotus Exige S. I can't wait!!

I only want one car; it bugs me to pay insurance and registration on a car I'm not driving. When I was younger I had an MG midget. The MG was great fun but not reliable. I wanted something like that except reliable and I waited years until the kids were grown to get my little roadster/sports car. I test drove almost all the roadsters and GTs and fell in love with the S. I've had the S almost 2 years; the longer I drive it the more I love it.
If I was really rich, I might test drive a Ferrari and like that more than the S. But if I was really rich, I might buy an island in the south pacific or a manor house in Ireland and keep my S.
