Uneven rear tire to fender clearance question
Hiya,
I did a few searches and found a post where xviper mentioned that stock S2Ks aren't necessarily of an even height all around. Some people have reported that the driver's rear side is a touch higher, and others have reported that the passenger side is higher.
Anyhow, I recently acquired my car and was looking at it, when I noticed that the driver's side (left side) seemed to sit a *touch* higher. Lo and behold--about 0.8 cm more clearance from the tires to the fender (about 0.3 inches).
The car is bone stock--MY 2002. Currently running Blizzacks LM-22s with even tire pressure all around. I also checked when the car was parked elsewhere, just in case. Stock 16 wheels.
Question: is this a cause for concern? For example, where I live, it rains a bit, and I am worried that in an emergency situation, if I slam on the brakes, the difference in suspension height/balance might have an adverse effect. Or am I being too paranoid? This is my first RWD car as I am coming from a Prelude, so I want to be careful. And, it is my daily driver.
Normally I wouldn't post, but she has had suspension parts replaced recently (all with new parts)--driver's side control arm, rear suspension subframe, driver's rear wheel (with a used one here). Car had zero body or frame damage, and the place it was taken to was a very reputable place. Car also has the proper alignment, done at a shop with a fancy alignment machine.
I did take it to a mechanic who confirmed that the new parts were indeed, new, and that everything looked good. I can take it back to the body shop and get them recheck their work if need be, but I thought that I'd post here first.
Anyone else notice the fact that the driver's rear side is higher? I have the spare still in the trunk, if this matters. At first I thought that maybe the driver's side is higher since, most of the time, most ppl are driving alone!
Sorry for the overly detailed and anal post question.
Thanks much in advance for your help and Happy Holidays!
