I have silverstone with red/black interior ( 2007 ap2) although I have seen a 2006 BB with all red interior. Good combo!

(Tooting my own horn of course...) I love being one of the only 543 blue-black interiors made for the Suzuka, just in MY06. It should be another line entry in the table, since it still lists 2006 as blue only.

That database is clearly wrong.

No, it is correct - remember it's Honda's own data.

If you're wondering about the interior color names - these are only intended to distinguish the different interior designs *within the same model year*. That is, *for any single model year*, there is a unique color label for each interior design. But for a different model year, that same color label might refer to a different interior design.

For example, in '00-'01, GPW and BB were offered with two interiors: one was all-black, while the other had red seats and red carpet (but the same black dash and trim). Naturally, Honda simply called these interiors "Black" and "Red". Then in '02, Honda changed the red interiors to be truly ALL-red, including red dash and red trim. Rather than come up with a new color name ("Extra Red"? lol), the two variants were again simply listed as "Black" and "Red". Finally in '04, the red dash & trim were discontinued, and the formerly all-red seats became two-tone red & black, so Honda apparently decided to be a little more descriptive, calling the new interiors "Red/Black". (This was probably a bit of marketing, intended to highlight a "cool new look" for the updated AP2 interiors.)

But notice, for example, that they never called the tan interiors "Tan/Black" - they were always just "Tan", even though these interiors all had a black dash and trim. Similarly, Honda evidently felt no need to distinguish between the variants of "Blue" interiors. We can assume this is because A) those two interior colors were unique to a single paint color (GPW for tan, and SBM for blue), and B) those paint colors were unique to those interior colors for those model years (i.e., when GPW was offered with Tan, it was ONLY offered with Tan - there were no red or black interiors for GPW during those model years).

This might help clear up some of the confusion.

Numbers are based on the OP but I updated the Red/Black information and added Blue/Black for Suzuka in 2006.

Red and Blue cells indicate the color of the dash and roll hoops.

^Close. GPW/Red in 2001 had the black dash and hoops (so should be "Red/Black" in your table).

I did some research a while back on the overall availability of the various paint colors. Always meant to do a more thorough thread on it, just never got around to it... Guess it's time to admit that I probably never will. Anyway here's the bottom line:

People always argue about which color is best for the S2000. I think the data suggests that, as far as Honda's concerned, the answer is...(drumroll please)...Berlina Black! Of the 22 paint colors offered worldwide, only Berlina Black was available every year, in every major market. Also of note: the last USDM car ever made, MY09 VIN #357, was a Berlina Black CR model.

Close second, of course, is Grand Prix White - it too was available every year on every continent...but it loses out because it was never available in the UK until the very last model year (as a special edition of 100 numbered "Ultimate Edition" cars). And, naturally, the next-to-last USDM car ever made, MY09 VIN #356, was a Grand Prix White CR. (Also, the last ever base model, MY09 VIN #348, was GPW.)

BTW, I don't know if those two CRs were the last S2000s ever made for *any* market. I do know that after Honda announced, in Jan. '09, that production would end in June of that year, it caused a spike of demand in Japan, and they actually extended production by a couple of months, going all the way into August. Also, it would seem to make sense that the very last cars would be for Honda's home market -- and by extension, that they would be Type S models, with the last two being GPW and BB.

While I'm at it, I'll give a shout out to my own color of choice, New Formula Red - Honda's "#3 color" so to speak. Alongside BB and GPW, it was one of the only three factory colors (out of 22 total) to be offered in every major market, in every year. Its availability was limited in Canada and several European sub-markets, however; and outside Japan, it was never offered with anything other than the standard black interior. (Red, and I believe even tan, were offered in the home market.) On the upside, the very first valid production car for the US market, MY00 VIN #027, was New Formula Red.
