Default Update on my situation

For all those who had read my thread on me having problems with my 5th gear not working and my knob not centering itself when pushed to the left in neutral and sixth gear getting notchy, my father took the car into Honda and they claimed it to be a 5th gear defect so the next step was to either replace the gear or the whole transmission. They eventually contacted the factory and they recommended that the 5th and 6th gear be replaced. The parts however aren't offer in the U.S. yet as they claim so i have to wait for shipping. I concerned that my dealer hasn't very good knowledge on how to do the work. I think it was xviper that suggested the centering spring be jammed in my fifth gear.. that sounds right but Honda thinks its a defect.
Well as soon as they replace the 5th and 6th gear i will find out if it worked and will post another update thread.

If they are going to crack your tranny you might want to think about having your clutch and flywheel done at the same time. Just a thought you might want to consider if you had been thinking about it anyway. I know for a fact it takes no more than 24 hours to do such a thing so if they are saying 3 or 4 days then make sure you get a specific appointment date where they can guarantee that they will work on it without interruption from start to finish. You might have to wait a week or two to get one but it means not having your car just sit there for days.

My first tranny job took 5 days and mechanic was very apologetic about it. When I had it in again my mechanic said to have the advisor specifically ask him for a time when he wouldn't be on vacation and could work on it from start to finish. I had it back the next day.
