Default update: stolen seats, DC header performance, helmet stuff...

Stolen Seats:
Insurance company has been giving me the runaround on this one. Its been reassigned to a few different departments and now its in this one guy's hands. It took me 30 minutes to convince the guy that yes Honda makes a car (and has made in the past) with two seats in it! Basically, insurance isn't paying up a dime of the $9K in damages to the car.

The seats ARE mine, and I've been trying to get ahold of the detective since Monday. Still, she hasn't called me back. And I'm losing time on actually resolving this on a legal basis with the shop that I purchased the seats from.

After spending the morning speaking with a supervisor for the longest time with my insurance company, I finally closed the conversation with: besides legal reasons, please tell me why I have insurance and why it is with you guys if it does nothing for me, nor does it provide insurance for the property that it states I'm covered for.

I really cannot believe this is that difficult for the insurance company to handle.

Replacement top - will be replaced if and only if the insurance company pays up, until then, I can't afford it.

Front windshield - finally replaced for a hair under 500 bucks.
Alarm installed - but unfortunately they put it in the wrong friggin place, now I can't use the Sparco Roadster seat because the f%(*@'n brain of it
Tint installed - looks great, and only ran me $50 bucks at the alarm place.

DC Sports Jet-Hot Coated Header:
I am urging Shingles to do another dyno on his car in the next few weeks after he's had a few hundred more miles on the header. I now have over 500 miles on that header and I just gotta say is...YES I can feel it now and YES that ECU does learn - it just takes some time.

I feel it noticably on the top end. And I was thinking, gee, I can chirp 2-3 shifts now. But last night, I was out with a friend, and she said, "okay so show me what this thing can do." So, what guy would turn that down? It was just after midnight, and I rip the car, first, second - big spin, and then 2-3 shift, well, it not only provided another wheelspin, but the car also hopped way over - inducing some rear bumpsteer because of the torque.

Now, I'm not claiming that it will be a great increase on this header, but I will say, its a pretty piece, the welds are nice, and the jet-hot coating *does* help under the hood.

Bieffe F1GP / F1 Helmets:
These came in the other day and I'm starting to ship them out to the owners. Some others are backordered and will be drop shipped from Bieffe America next week. Italian made and all I gotta say is, DAMN these are friggin light. Very well built. And as you know, I offer ALL Bieffe products through Bulletproof Automotive.

Shatten 2 things to remember about wheel spin..........time the tires have been on the road(ie. tread wear). Temp of the tires at time of wheel spin.

In 50 degree weather I can warm up my car spin 1-2 2-3 3-4 because the friggen tires are rocks!!!!!!

Im not saying that your gains are not real just things to keep in mind. Oh yea.......after my header trans plant I slide 2-3 as well! As they usually don't churp just a quiet slide.

Hope things finally work out with the damn insurance people.

Can I ask how you know the seats are stolen? Do they have a # on the bottom or some other sort of identification?

The dective on the case has not called me back. I've left many messages with her.

if you clean your car, clean your seats, you know what you use on the seats, what chemicals, what they smell like, you know every little blemish in the paint and the leather blemishes, etc. Right? well, they smell like the stuff I use and not something that was "sitting there for a few months" and they have the same blemishes.

One suggestion was to get the credit union in on this.

But the real issue is to put it simply:
1) get reimbursed for those stolen items
2) catch the theives

right now, its up to me at this point to
1) pay for the stolen stuff myself
2) catch the theives

it doesn't make sense why I need to get screwed over twice. is there a real reason that I should have insurance if insurance doesn't want to protect the item(s) I have insured?

I didn't think it would be this difficult. its my first claim, after being with them for over 12 years. no tickets on my record (really), and the only thing that was on my record with this insurance company is...well, this is going to sound screwed up, but it was an accident I was a passgener in when I was 15 - not even old enough to drive! My parents had me under their insurance because of a permit at the time and the driver had the same insurance, and he died, so it went on my record for some reason because they had to pay out.

Clearly your insurance company sucks. Once all this is settled, switch ASAP.

Who is your insurance co.? I'd like to know who to avoid like the plague.

....I sincerely hope you get all of this squared away without too much more aggravation.

Sorry but I just had to say something. Surely you know better than to think the headers increased the torque that much. The End.

Wes, actually on other cars - the american v8's they do, quite a bit.

I'm not saying, nor do I have a dyno, that it increased the torque, its just what it felt like.

As for the insurance company, and who I bought the seats from, I've withheld those names until the issue is resolved. I'm allowing time, persistance and my patience that is dwindling to have this issue come to a close. Depending on how it is resolved, then I my reactions will reflect such in how I name their names.
