The easiest way to patch a hole/tear in your soft top:
Sew it shut with a needle & thread. Get a couple iron-on patches. Cut a circular/oval patch large enough to cover the tear. With the top in the up position use a large spoon and a barbecue lighter to apply the patches to the inside of the top. Use your spoon to hold it up and smooth it out onto the inside of the top while torching it w/ the lighter. It will not catch fire(but just in case, keep a spray bottle with water next to you). The glue on the back of the patch is activated w/ heat. Depending on how big/bad the tear is, you'll want to treat the outside of it. I personally left it stitched up, but you can cut off the stitching and get one of those vinyl repair kits to mask the tear.
