I've found that when driving at night on bumpy roads folks in the oncoming lane will think I'm flashing my brights at them.
One lady in front of me in North Carolina actually pulled over thinking I was a cop or something trying to get her attention!

My bet is that if all cars came with HIDs, this whole HID thing wouldn't be an issue. People stare at them because they look different... donno about other's but I don't generally stare at headlights... regardless of color or type.

The stook with a HID can't be any more dangerous than a large SUV or pickup with a sports package where the lights are shining directly in the eyes of other drivers.

I don't think HIDs really glare and hurt the eyes. They illuminate with a blue hue, and fill a wide space in the night. Regular halogens seem to hurt my eyes more.

Have any of you ever been followed by a stook at night? It is very distracting. I love my headlights but, have been chased, followed, cursed at, had bright lights flashed at me over and over and actually had things thrown at me at 70MPH. All because of my headlights. I have had them checked and they are at the correct height. I am, however, thinking of having them lowered to see if it will stop the harassment I keep getting.
