Sure, but do you like other people's HIDs. [edited for gramatical correctness]

I ran into Col the other night and drove behind him for a few minutes them overtook him. It was only then that I realised how annoying our HID's are to other drivers. With our firm suspension our car bobs up and down changing the angle of the light beam. The resultant light in the mirror of the car in front flashes from bright to retina scorching and back very rapidly. It's enough to cause a seizure.

I now know why other motorists get pissed off, and why oncoming motorists often high beam us. Our lights, while great for our visibility, are darn right obnoxious to other drivers.

Yes, but they're very well focused, as with all the BMW's. [/B][/QUOTE]

Yeah, I was in front of one of those "well focused" sets last week. They were very well focused at my rear-view mirror!!

Lexus is also putting them in the Land Cruiser and RX300 now.

It is oft talked about over in the UK that the main reason people complain
about HID light systems is because of the interesting light residue colour
at the edge of the beam. This causes people to S.T.A.R.E at the cars lights
trying to work out the exact colour. This then causes nasty glare and headaches.

Has anybody tried looking straight at a standard Halogen light in the same way?
We I did (for an experiment) and you know what? I received a nasty headache
from the glare.

For crying out loud, the sun will BLIND you if you look straight at it...

You not supposed to look at them - you look with them!

I love driving with the HIDs but it wouldn't surprise me at all if regulations on their use, or lack there of change. Mine are adjusted perfectly and when I'm on hilly back streets I constantly have people flash me. I flash back to let them know but the HIDs are so bright I'm not sure if they even notice.

Personally I think they are too bright and do blind oncoming cars. Drivers of course have no choice but to keep looking, its not like they can just close their eyes. For that reason I wouldn't be against regulations modifying HID use or specifications, but I do like them from the user point of view.

I want SUV's designed with their headlamps no higher that an ordinary vehicle.

Their lights should be no higher than 18 inches above the road surface; in fact their should be a law that all main head lights on any vehicle, truck, semi, or car should be only 18 inches off the surface of the road!

I'm sorry if I was incosiderate to other people. In here, some people complaint about everything. Just little details which are so insignificant, they would make it a big deal and make it look like sky is going to fall down. What I really don't like is they don't provide solution. Not even a single clue what to do.

Yes, HID is bright, but I haven't seen any case due to on coming HID or HID behind the driver. At least not yet. If there was a case, press would love to publish it like the sky is falling.

I do have have several experience that on coming BMW or Benz blinded my eye with their HID. But I don't think it was any worse than regular Halogen. In fact, some halogens are so wide spread that it I cannot hide from its light where HID is more focused so I can hide from its light. I don't think HID is issue. I think it's right adjustment of HID and skill of driver on both side.

'Do you like other people?' Please don't ask this type of question. You could have said it in a better manner than that. You could've said, 'I understand you like your HID, but be considerate to other drivers'. I would been less offended. Thanks in advance for understanding.

cheers,

I think the red and blue lights on police cars are distracting. You, know you "driving" down the road and then you have this flashing lights behind you, you speed up and they are still there. Eventually you can go fast enough and they start to disappear, then all of a sudden there is a helicopter with that big light on you. It is very hard to drive with that. I think they should ban those lights.

What about those spike strips, they are hard to avoid.

Is it legal for them to use spike strips on explorers? We all know what happens with explorers with low tires, they roll. The justice system protects the guilty anyway.
