A buddy of mine just corner weighed his car and it is a stock S with after market swaybars and springs and his came in at 2714 with 5/8 tank of gas.

stock 2003 with the top down, no spare and no tool kit. all trunk carpet in place and 100% full tank of gas (drove to truck stop, filled tank, drove over to the scales)

no change in the cupholder, no 50 cd wallet under the seat, no radar detector hanging from the windhshield.

as close as you can get to showroom weight minus the spare and toolkit.

I understand when you raise the top it gains roughly 50 lbs.

I keed (I realize the front-to-rear consideration)

That's pretty awesome, I had always thought the cars were closer to high 2800's.

Weight side note: when I weighed my '03 Z06 (BTW, there's really no options...) at Roebling, it was 3088 lbs, 1/2 tank, stock, no pump/kit, misc junk. (3488 with me in it).

what's the error on the scale? it must have some range of accuracy.

i read somewhere cat scales are guaranteed to be within .1% accuracy

dunno honestly, i'd bet they are pretty accurate though considering trucks can be fined for being overweight. it looks like they report in 20lb increments. so i guess that means for a smaller car (vs a big ass semi) its accurate to 20lbs.

it was only like 8 bucks so i'm going to get it reweighed when i'm over in that area again to see what it says after the coilovers exhaust and test pipe.

Scale probably calibrated around ranges nowhere near a ~3000 lb. car!

FWIW, my AP1 weighed in at just over 2750 lb. at the scales at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, with a ~40 lb. roll bar installed and spare/tools removed (probably close to a wash) and ~1/8 of a tank.

Any case, I'd pick a 2800 lb. 50/50 LS7 S2000 over either a 3150 lb. *or* 3088 lb. 52/48 C5 Z06

its load cell based, weight has nothing to do with it.

its accurate to 20lbs because it only reports in 20lb increments

if i ever run across someone that will throw my car on his corner weighting scales for free i dont expect it to be off by much.

CAT guarantees their weights with a "if you get ****ed because you were over weight and our scales said differently we will pay for your fine and represent you in court"

if anyone in dallas wants to throw my car on some corner weighting scales for free, by all means let me know and i'll meet you up and take 10 minutes of your time.

You think load cells don't have to be calibrated for the range of interest? They do...

Anyway, I'm not disputing anything.
