Valentine 1 project anyone?
has anyone considered making a V1 enclosure that would sit in front or behind the windscreen? something like this one for the NSX http://www.nsx.net/projects/valentine/index.html
That is pretty much exactly what I was planning to do once my V1 arrives. I like the idea of a red lense for the back of the box. Was thinking of making a cutout on the bottom of the windscreen and mounting the box between the secret compartment top and the windscreen bottom.
Will have to take measurements once the unit arrives.

I still haven't mounted it in a nice enclosure, but here is my setup:

Since the time the pics were taken I have mounted the remote display a little higher and have installed one of Mr. Hesel's smoked windscreens with (you didn't hear it from me) logos which pretty much hides the unit from the rear.
Yes, I can say from experience that it is hidden.
Of course, until I get it mounted in box it's still very visible from the sides with the top down.

Ive already done this. Ive been meaning to post pics but the digital camera is not cooperating. I'll get them up tonight.
Essentially, I constructed a bracket from sheet metal. You remove the windscreen, and the bracket is drilled out to fit between the windscreen and the console lid. I provide the details with the pics later. It works great, BTW!

If somebody comes up with a sanitary stealthy installation, I'll buy it! I have my V1 clipped to the underside of the passenger visor. Keeps it from being quite as obvious as in the traditional location on the windshield, but still not hidden.
By mounting the V1 back near the windscreen, aren't you limiting it's visibilty to threats at the front of the vehicle??
It seems that you would want the detector to have a completely unobstructed view through the windshield. It is also very beneficial to keep it mounted as high as possible in the car, ie. at the very top of the windshield. Placing it back on the console lowers the view, give the detector less time to catch signals.
Although nice to have a stealth enclosure, it seems like this mod may be a detriment to the performance of the V1 ..
