How about making one that fits the Passport 8500 also. I know it's sacrilege to use anything but a Valentine on this board. But I'm having very good luck with the Passport and am now especially pleased since I spent a few hours hiding the power supply cord and hooking it up to the fuse box.

I suggest doing a "search". You'll find just about any V-1 mount imaginable. I still prefer mine by far.... To the left of the rr mirror (touching) using the std window suction mtg and hide the "bracket only" by a tint stip. Mount the conceal mode behind the steering wheel in front of the speedo. Always hard-wire!!!

- Best concealed for Mr. Law
- Best heads-up display location
- Best security mtg
- Best preformance
- Best and most convient concealment display location
- Best looking (very clean)

Do a search and you will see my pics (and others)!

Use a proximity alarm system to keep intruders away!!!!

I don't know about the others, but I did search, and this was one of the threads I found, and I like the idea.

Barring any visor-based solution from Rick Hesel, your setup, like many others, is probably what I will go with.

With or without one of these, I would be tucking the V1 away where it can't be quickly reached in and snatched when I park top-down anyway.

But yes, since one can't be too safe (even from the Slurpie-carrying, zipper-fringed bozos who think they need to lean right over or against my car to get a good look at it) -- proximity is something I will be adding in the future.

Wondering if it could be integrated with the factory system (which should be simple, with that system having a number of circuit-breaking switches that could be tapped into) or just better to wire independently. Don't know if I'd want the full volume and duration of the horn blast if its just someone looking into the car, or say, a paper bag blows into the cockpit.

Thats getting off-topic, I guess.

According to the electronics shop I use..... NO.

Unfortunately I have to use (2) remotes but if anyone
tries to touch the V-1 LOUD sirens will go off before they get too close. If a door is opened to get to it.... Look out! Loud sirens plus my factory alarm is rigged to air-horns guaranteed to wake the heaviest sleeper or attract everyone nearby.

Good Luck....

Maybe we can chop the V1 in half and put the front sensor in the front bumper and the rear sensor in the rear bumper? C'mon guys!

Brb gotta go get the chain saw.

I know...some day. I wrote V1 a while back and actually got a reply from Mike Valentine himself (or so the message claimed) about why they have not made a stealth/remote-sensor option/model.

He says that because of the VERY precise measurements and sub-microsecond comparison of the signals from either antenna, not only would introducing longer wires (to the CPU) introduce uncertainty, but the lack of guaranteed simultaneity would significantly diminish the unit's ability to sense the location of radar.

Something like that.

Guess I'll have to live with the V1 brick if it means having the best protection.

Maybe they could use fiber optics? Now that would be sweet! If someone cares enough about their radar detector to get something like that then they would fork over the money to get it done.

Once the owner's manual case goes into production (next week, we hope), the visor with a Valentine pocket is the next thing we plan to turn to.

In the meantime, you may want to try this solution:

Rick,

I am glad that you are still working on the visor idea. While the rear mount is nice, I still would rather have the more concealed visor mount.

Thanks
