Valet??....sure why not?.....hell no!!!!
I'll be picking up my MY04 in June this year and I was curious how many of you valet your S? I have always valet'd my previous cars, beaters and tuners alike. I used to love it when they would pull up in my 99black mitsu fully tricked out spoiler, rims, springs, indiglo gauges, struts, splitter...on and on....
Is Valet a bad idea?......any horror stories?.........
lets hear em.....

Depends on where you go. I know some places use the Valet lot is just an open field compared to the tarmac that's used for regular parking.
The only way I'd valet my car is if I tip enough they'll leave it parked with the expensive cars (where they are shown off).

My wife and I go to the casino's here locally and we always valet. The only incident that I had was I had just washed and waxed my car and it was spotless. When they delivered my car, it had figure prints all over the hood (my car was black) and it was a little frosted from the cold so it was really noticable. I got pissed an spoke with the valet manager. My car had hood pins and I know they just wanted to look under the hood......regardless, that shit pissed me off...
As much as I daydream about my car pulling up and me getting into it.....i don't know if it's worth the risk. I'm sure some of you guys have had some experiences.....

I try to avoid valets at all cost. It is nothing personal against valets but the fact is I don't like other people driving my cars. None have ever valeted my S but my wifes car has been valeted once. As far as bad experiances, I once saw a valet for an expensive restraunt in downtown Austin drive a 350Z around the block to the parking lot where they kept the cars and he did not slow down for a dip in the road. By the time he cleared the dip there were sparks all over the place. He may or may not have done any damage but he did not seem to care!
I had valeted my car ONCE and the guy said he knew how everything worked, yadi yada, so I am waiting for them to pull it up and I am waiting, and waiting...the guy had no clue how to start it back up and was fidgeting with everything.
I told him to just leave it in the spot and I would drive it out, I even tipped him to go away, hehe.

the bottom line is that you cannot expect others to care for your car the way you do yourself. this does not mean that each and every valet will abuse each and every single nice car they get their hands on. sure, some of them will drive the car a little fast to feel what the car can do, but realistically they're probably not doing anything to the car that you've never occassionly done to it yourself. if they physically damage anything, you can always hold their company responsible for it. just make sure you report the damage before you leave the premises. on the other hand, if you are very anal about your car, then just find a parking lot with wide spaces and park it yourself, even if you have to walk or take a taxi from the lot to where ever it is you're going. i've personally been a valet for several years while in college, and yes i have driven cars a little hard to get a good feel of them, but i never considered what i did to be abusive. speeding, yes, but i've never done anything that i would consider to have caused any damage to the car. after all, if it is a porsche, etc., then it was designed to be driven hard and fast, so i really wasn't doing anthing that the owner would not do him/herself. is it cool for a valet to drive someone else's car hard and fast?? no. but again, if you care so much about your car then, park it yourself. this is the same with any and all services relating to cars. each time i take my car in for service, i always find something that irritates me, such as a scratch on the valve cover, slight grease on the steering wheel/shift knob, slight nick of clearcoat on the edge of the doors due to them touching the cars next to it when they opened the door, etc. can i really blame them for it?? not really, because to the majority of car owners, they do not notice or care for those minute details. basically, i cannot expect others to be as anal about my car as i am myself. instead, if i want to avoid all those little irritants, i just have to do the work myself.
I don't like people touching my things!
Seriously though the S has a long front end and I remember curbing it the first week I had it - The last time anyone other than myself drove it was when I had a tire replaced and the lot kid that was maybe 18 pulled it out of a bay to a the parking spot I was standing at and he ran my Amuse lip right into the curb! I am sure the look on my face said it all and he got out handed me the keys and left quickly - I had my bra on so no damage done!
