Vandalism, Theft, and the Stook
I'd say do what you want, but if you decide to get an S, look out for it by putting some kinds of security precautions on it. Alarm with motion, shock, and glassbreak sensors would be a good idea. You may also want to heed the advice of everyone else and get some seat locks. They're cheap, and it's good peace of mind.
As an aside, how messed up is it that we actually need to discuss this?! The man is afraid to get a nice car because some a**hole will do something to it. What a shame. That is one of the reasons you can't have nice things anymore. People are just haters!

My car attracts lots of negative attention mainly from highschool aged boys. I get at least one negative comment a month from haters like that.
I've had things thrown at the car while driving and stuff yelled at me (always 15-18 yr old Caucasian males
). I had a couple of them tell me my car was the "gayest thing they've ever seen" just last weekend, then they proceeded to attempt to run me off the road with their piece of crap truck.
The car has never been vandalized while parked though. I keep it in a garage at night, and during the day it's in a guarded/gated parking lot.
My car is totally stock looking 04... so if you live in a bad neighborhood I would be a little wary in getting a car like this. Entry to the car is only a pocket knife away

you pay for insurance for a reason, buy the car if you want one. if it gets broken into you just pay your deductable, get a check and move on. life's to short to dwell on probability/ for all you know the car will never get broken into. enjoy.
I live in Philly and all cars with a soft convertible top are more prone to theft. There is a girl in my neighborhood that has had her top cut on her eclipse a couple times. I have a garage and left my car out for the first time and my top was cut and the stole the stock radio! If where you live is similiar to Philly or any other metro area I would want a garage or a hard top.

I had someone put their cigarette out on my top, but that's the only form of vandalism to my vehicle without parking in a garage.
