Take back roads, it will help you vary the rpm's and you get to see part of the US that have been forgotten. Plus when you get into Colorado, and Utah it a lot more fun. I have done this on trips in a 73 Triumph TR6 and 80 Triumph TR8 and have come away with this problem .

im planning to go to school in cali. and im currently in NJ...when i get my s2000, would a cross-country drive be a bad idea?

About 6 months ago I drove mine from southern CA to WA and was surprised at how comfortable a ride it was. The only problem I encountered after driving 15-16 hours was when I got out, I could barely walk (from driving that long with your legs almost straight out).
