Theoretical top speed (bouncing off limiter in 6th) is 173.88 mph if 18.9 mph/1000 rpm in 6th is accurate, not accounting for drag.

My opinion, but the only place to go fast is where EVERYBODY is a skilled driver. That means the track or autocross, where you can contol who is driving and when.
Only at a controlled facility will the surface be checked for debris and maintained for the type of driving seen here.
If the risk were solely the drivers', then go wild.

Please do not risk my family's lives with your thoughtless actions.

If there had been no traffic, would I have been more forgiving? Yes, because there was a centre divider, the type proven to keep out of control cars on the one side.

It looks like he was definitely on a downhill slant, so that's what allowed him to get to 281 km/h.

Personally ... I think you need alot of balls to do that, how many of you are willing to give that a go? Less than 1% of us all in the community I believe. I give him a thumbs up. Good one TurboDave ... Anyway, it's an old message but still a good revival for people who have not seen this amazing work.

Great big hairy, inconsiderate balls, yes.

Save that crap for a track loaded with ambulances-in-waiting.

I must agre with WestSideBilly, it's strange to see the difference of comments from last week's post from TurboDave, when everyone was cheering, to this post, where he gets bashed for irresponsible behavior.
It IS very dangerous to drive this fast, but remember that this was shot in Europe, where the average speed is much higher (I think every european member of this forum regularely drives above 230kmh, and many have been faster than 260kmh), and where other drivers on highways know there might be faster cars on the left lane.
You'd be amazed at how people respect the driving etiquette, it's actually pretty funny to go fast in this car on a highway with your HID's on, because EVERYONE pulls to the right as soon as they see you in their mirror!!
Still, I'd rather try this on a 3-lane german Autobahn, just in case...

I for one would LOVE to try 170 mph-plus! But I agree that passing those trucks on a public highway is a risk to others, not the S2K driver alone. Is it worth prison time and a lifetime of guilt just to try it?

Maybe I'll take my Stook out to Bonneville sometime. Anyone try that yet?

I've got to agree with the naysayers on this one. It's one thing to speed a little on an open road where there's no risk of hitting anyone. However, going 170mph on a freeway with other traffic? There is absolutely no excuse for that.

There are racetracks for that, and if you've got enough balls to drive 170, I'm hoping that you have the brains to be doing it on a track. That way, it's a controlled environment, and anyone that you may run into knows the risk beforehand.

Ace039, you have to know that there is a major difference in risk factor between going 170 on the freeway and crossing the street. In case you can't work it out, let me spell out the two biggest difference:
1) At 170, even minor problems (flat tire, car changes lanes, hydroplaning, low flying sparrow ) are often fatal, especially when there are trucks nearby to fly into.
2) More importantly, when you cross the street, you take your own life into your hands. When you do these kinds of speeds on the street, you take everyone else's lives into your hands, and pretty unsafely at that.

Any monkey can mash a gas pedal. To make good judgements of how fast to go on public streets needs brains to go with the balls.
