Is this VIN plate legit?
Hello All,
I'm currently looking into buying my second S2K (previously having a 1999 AP1).
Looked at one today, its a 2005 but the VIN Plate under the hood clearly says AP1 on. I know that this was the change over period so in europe you still get the F20C engine not the 22 but i thought the chassis was AP2 once the bumpers/lights/interior changed? or am i mistaken?
The VIN plate is 100% from a honda S2000 as the code checks out but, being a dumb ass i forgot to cross check it with other numbers while i was with the vehicle.
Just looking for a bit of reassurance that you can have an AP1 F20C 2005 with facelift bumpers/lights etc
Cheers,
Tony

AP1 and AP2 are the engine codes for 2.0 and 2.2 engines respectively. Nothing more. Identical thread popped up earlier this week -- you didn't see it? VIN plate is on top of the dashboard visible thru the windshield.
All these cars were "face lifted" in 2004. The North American cars got the 2.2 engine (and transmission and suspension bits) in 2004 as well. Convenient in North America to call 2004 and later "AP2" cars but nowhere else.
