Default VIN and production number

Hi! I've read some threads about the VIN number and production number. First of all, apparently from the Helms manual (found in another post):

Per Helms manual

Vehicle Identification Number Breakdown

Sample: JHM AP1 1 4 * 1 T 000001

First 3 codes: Manufacturer, Make & Type of Vehicle
JHM: Honda Motor Co., Ltd. & Honda Passenger vehicle

Next 3 codes: Line, Body & Engine Type
AP1: S2000 / F20C1

Next code: Body Type & Transmission Type
1: 2-door Convertible / 6-speed Manual

Next code: Vehicle Grade (series)
4: Base model

Next code: Check digit
*
Next code: Model Year
Y: 2000
1: 2001

Next code: Factory Code
T: Tochigi Factory in Japan

Last 6 codes: Serial Number
For U.S. model: 000001~
For Canada model: 800001~
My VIN says 3, where the Helms says 4 is the base model. Then what does 3 mean? It also says that Y = 2000. But what about cars produced in 1999? Do they also say Y? And the last question: The serial number (last 6 digits), is it for the total produced that year or is the number produced for a certain market that year?

Thanks!

Pick a PDF from the list for a specific year to get a breakdown.

Thanks! But something there is not right as well... hehe. That list says that 4 = softtop S2000, and 3 = 4dr Civic DX with a/c... The only number where S2000 is mentioned is 4. Hmmm... I'm quite sure my car is not a Civic

Hmm. Could it be that my car is for the European market?... Still a bit strange maybe.

Hmmm. Not that I know I'm actually not quite sure what that is. I've seen some talk about VGS steeringwheel, but I have a standard steeringwheel.
