The way the *aftercooler* works is that it has it's own radiator type thing.. it circulates water (coolant) through the preasurized air, and then once the water is heated it goes through a tube to the raidiator part which is mounted in the path of air flow, cooling the water to be cycled again. It seems to me that an air-air intercooler would be more effective, but to be honest I don't know if that's true or not. I know that air-air intercoolers cool preasurized air down to near ambient air temps, I find it hard to believe that the aftercooler could do the same, however there is less tubing so it should be more efficient.

Actaully air-to-water is 9 times more efficient then an air-to-air. Water has a higher thermal capacity then air. You are correct about the tubing issue. Less tubing means less volume and less pressure drop. Bascially, less wasted boost!

Can we get more detailed pics of the supercharger?

But I just have to say that the blue and the aftercooler on it looks mean, really mean.

Also, Vortech's located in Irvine right? or Lake Forest? Cuz I saw a building in one of the industrial areas of Irvine with a Vortech sign on it. I think it said Vortech motorsports or something like that.

Anyone know how much boost? I understand that cooling is only effective/needed with boost of more than 8 psi - and then only minimal unless above 10 psi. At the compression ratio of the S, I don't think 10 psi is practical with street gasoline. Any thoughts?

It is a mean looking kit though. I'd assume $6k. I've only had my Comptech installed for a couple of weeks and it's real sweet. I'm just getting used to the whistles and psssts at low rpm.
