Vortech Aftercooler fitting on Comtech SC.....
Hey fellas,
Does anyone know if the Vortech aftercooler is compatible with comptech SC??? I was wondering because Comptech is a little behind on introducing there aftercooler.
Cheers,
Wicked

I know this is a little off topic, but I figured I'd bring this up anyways.
I just spoke to Trevor (btw, great guy) and he gave me a little bit of information on the kit. He told me that the kit is coming along great and that some tweaking to it is still underway. The kit will be CARB Legal. Though depending on how long it takes the approval process it may take some time. But it will be CARB Legal. Californians shouldn't have a problem with upon release.
I was told the kit is making about 100 hp right now at about 8rpms...They are still tweaking some things around so this number will probably change. The aftercooler will come with the kit (standard) and will be competively priced with other kits available (Comptech/no aftercooler). Trevor said that the kit looks like it'll be coming out the first week of January, if everything goes well.
Trevor said he'll be back to post once he gets a chance and gets good info (reliable release information). I know some of this information has already been posted, but I figured I'd share what I've been told by Vortech.

My opinion (FWIW) is that the only decent (read "effective") implementation of an aftercooler for the S2000 will be an air-to-water aftercooler.
Whether or not you have a comptech SC, go out and look at the engine compartment with the thought of having an aftercooler. Note that the inlet to the intake manifold is about 3" dia. (maybe more, maybe less, I didn't measure). A SC blower outlet should be at least as large as the intake manifold inlet. And of course the SC inlet should be as large as feasible. The best place for an aftercooler is at the front of the car in the air stream - right? Now look closely: how are you going to get a 3" dia. or larger pipe past (coming and going) the stock radiator? The only way I can see this being done is to cut metal or get a smaller radiator. In addition, at least one of these runs will be fairly long (couple of feet).
All in all, I think the best solution is an air to water aftercooler.
