I hit 125-130 mph in a school yard full of children. Oops, I mean race track.
Seriously I have hit 130 at the end of the long straightaway at Firebird raceway. Never got it out of 5th gear though.

Isn't it a great feeling. I had 630 miles on mine yesterday and finally got to VTEC. it reminded me of one of my bikes. This car is a motorcycle with four wheels.

I love VTEC. VTEC, and the accompanying formula-one-like sound, forces a smile. I gather you guys that aren't lifted to a higher plane by VTEC never owned a VTEC motor before?
I revved the snot out of my 1995 Acura Integra GSR for 60K miles with zero engine issues and when I traded it in for the S2K the dealer said it was in perfect condition. Seems to me the Honda engines are more durable than the RPM would suggest. And if I was afraid of some head work at, say, 80K miles than I would have to go buy a diesel and putt-putt to work.
The GSR's VTEC sounded like a chain saw started under the hood. Our car has less engine noise but a bigger kick in the pants.
That VTEC feeling is a weak substitute for turbo boost but we also get less "turbo surprise."
We bought a high-strung sports car. If the engine whine is scary you might consider something in the big-block category with monster torque and a wimpy redline.
