no offense, but why does it matter?? just enjoy your car and drive it however it takes to put a smile on your face. that is the reason why you chose the s2000, right?? no offense again, but i can't stand s2000 owners who are so reluctant to drive their car hard because they are so afraid of "harming" it. personally, i drive my car hard pretty much every single day. i like to pull G's--this includes accelerating, braking, and cornering. driving the s2000 calmly is irritating to me, and at moments when i try to drive that way, i wish i was driving something else, cuz the s2000 is a very uncomfortable car in those situations.

but to answer your question: generally, the harder the car is pulling (whether it's acclerating, braking, or cornering), you are generally putting more stress on the mechanical components of your car. so theorectically, "vtecing" in 1st gear will result in a harder accelerating pull than "vtecing" in 2nd (3rd, 4th, etc.), so yes, again theoretically, "vtecing" in 1st is more harmful to your engine, transmission, and possibly suspension than "vtecing" in second, and so on and so forth...

I'd prefer 3rd gear vtec lasts a bit longer.
I don't vtec 1st too short.
I usually vtec 2,3,4

When I am driving hard (most of the time) I redline EVERY shift.
