This has probably been posted b4. I've had 2 consecutive oil changes with Castol Syntec. I've got 8K on the odo. My oil level is perfect. Ok, here is what happens....nothing.
I don't feel any surge or don't hear the change in engine tone like I use to. The car revs smoothly to 9k with no change in feel at the VTEC rpm range. Any ideas or suggestions???????????????????

Thanks

It's probably not the oil. I've been using Syntec with no problems.

Did it start when you switched to Syntec or just started recently.

i've got the same situation. i guess the synthethics work too well and smoothing the engine. i've been using mobile 1 for my oil and the surge seems to have diminished. i wonder if using regular oil would cause the surge to return?

Pull the meter fuse! This will disallow VTEC to engage...now drive the car. Does it feel any different than before? If you don't get that as quick acceleration from a moving start, then your VTEC was VTECing with the fuse in.

That's the method I've used to diagnose Prelude VTECs. I think it may work with the S2 also.
