Default Vtec switchover

Maybe Im just imagining things but if Im just gradually increasing speed past the normal point of Vtec engaging, the "kick" isnt really felt. Can anyone else concur? When Im pushing the car, Vtec crossover can definitely be felt.

I came from a Type-R where the crossover felt like a kick in the groin so its a little more subtle in the S2k ...though I forgot to mention that this is an AP2. Maybe its just not as noticeable.

VTEC does not engage unless you are at full throttle or near it.
