VTEC does not engage unless you are at full throttle or near it.
hmm I thought so, nice to learn something new everyday =D
I don't VTEC enough to come up with that conclusion so it was nice to know this tidbit of information

No wonder my car feels slower. I need to get more VTEC. My count must be in the tens of thousands by now.

on fc20 it's pretty noticable - and i like the way it feels.

but at fast hard cornering i really need to pay attention not to get VTEC smack in the middle of the corner.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if VTEC only kicks in when you're WOT, do you even have to worry about it kicking in during a corner (unless you're taking corners on the street WOT)?

Or does it occur at a % less then 100% WOT (e.g. 75%? 85%?)? Please clarify for the curious!

My understanding is a VTEC "window" exists. For example the window may be set from 6200-7000rpm where WOT would need to be applied for VTEC to activate, however it will active over 7000rpm regardless of throttle position. BTW the RPM numbers I used are just ballpark estimates.

So for AP1, if you're in 5th or 6th and shift down to 3rd or 4th and the RPMs shoot up, if your gas pedal isn't WOT, VTEC will definitely engage right?
