VTEC? Why?
Actually, the fact that he's asking questions and cautious makes me feel exactly the opposite way!
A lot of people find the S to be a natural progression from the sports cars of yore, and one needs re-education from that perspective. With 9K redline, rev limiters, electronic power steering, and VTEC, it's small wonder!
Rock on y'all! And drive safely!

Why buy the S2000?
I originally was interested in it because it was a Honda and I had had nothing but success with Hondas. Then I wanted it because it was a small sports car and very sexy looking and I was sick of getting bigger and slower cars. I was interested in the fact that it had a convertible top too. I did not know it was a fast car until the day I bought it and my salesgirl told me to ring it's neck, and not to shift. It wasn't until I brought it home that I learned what I had.
Everyone doesn't buy it for the same reason.

Straight up, funnyesq. Welcome!
This car ain't nuthin' like a 'lude though, especially the ones you had. Take turns smoothly in the S, at constant speeds (don't lift the throttle, if anything gas it slightly). RWD is a very different beast from what you're used to.
There's a whole bunch of threads on this subject, so have a look through the search tab. It's your friend!

Find a nice straight line and go balls to the wall till the redline. When you hear the car go from waaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh to WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....... that is VTEC.
IMO VTEC is better than sex................................ (almost

This is a very useful thread. Thanks...I bought my S on the spur of the moment for its looks. Actually was looking for a Jaguar XJS convertible, but couldn't find one. I know they suck mechanically, but I always liked that car. Anyway, I test drove this one, but the salesguy (it was used) didn't know much about the car. There weren't many around then. So I've been learning alot from this site. It's great...
