I am new here and I am considering getting an S2000. I will probably get it this fall. I would like to know what is VTECH? I have read from reading here it "kicks in". What is it exactly? Thanks in advance.

... And to answer the OP. VTEC is, in the simplest terms, Honda's way of giving you power when you need it while keeping your average fuel economy higher.

 

Basically the car has two sets of cams. A low profile cam that is engaged below 6K RPM and a higher profile that is engaged above 6K. When it engages the higher cam it increases the amount of time the valves are open which puts more fuel into the cylinders which makes more power.
What everyone is talking about is the transition from the lower cam to the higher cam. When it happens the car gets a big boost of HP and you can really feel and hear it.

Go for a test drive and you will find out what we are talking about.

And yes it is ALOT of fun.
