Default VTECH controllers

I would love to lower the VTECH engagement point, but my 05 is brand new and it makes me nervous to do too much. Not to mention I don't know who to go to to do the change. I don't feel comfortable doing any after market upgrades myself. Any thoughts?

OK, no need to be snippy. You board people are so anal. I've had a 98 Prelude Type SH and now the S2000. The typo might be to the mass quantities of beer consumed while online after football, but thanks for pointing out that minor issue. I am quite familiar with what it does. And thanks for answering my other questions!

I don't get the impression from his post that he doesn't know what VTEC is and what it does.

Spelling it VTECH is a very common mistake around here and no big deal in the grand scheme of things. Can YOU answer his question? As apposed to coming back with sarcastic questions like "do u even know what it does." Your screen name hints as to your age and the immaturity of your reply strongly suggests that maybe you "shouldn't" be driving a sports car.

Lydas2000:

What little I've caught on the forum concerning your question suggests that "just" lowering the VTEC engagement rpm isn't necessarily a good thing. The ECU is programmed with ignition and fuel mapping based on the factory settings. If you cross over to the high speed cams below that point without reprogramming the ignition and fuel mapping, you "might" be putting the engine at risk. There are a number of folks on the forum that have experience with the programmable aftermarket ECU's that will allow you to properly configure the system for a different VTEC point. Hopefully some of them will chime in here.

Good luck & Drive Safe,
Steve R.

Thank You! Nice to know there are people on this baord that can contribute to the greater good. I did make a faux pas, but I appreciate people sharing knowledge rather the attempting to belittle users.

That makes sense. I know the Hoda engineers have tweaked the 4-cylinder too cloe to perfection so I knew itr might be risky to change to much. Just looking for ideas to get more fun from 4banger!
