VTEC'ing it before 600 miles
Well Beavis,
Since everyone on this thread yacks like a bunch of valley girls, and don't notice the word "help", I would assume that when you actually need simple technical advice, (oh m gawd!) you'll have to answer yourself... It's only a freaking automobile...
change the oil next spring!

I have a dilema facing me right now.
My car has 3,100 miles on it. I am not going to have the time to put another 650 miles (pathetic) on her before the snow and salt.

Gratz on the car moon - if you wanna break it in real fast and easy, take it out for a ride on the beltway, one loop, once a week. You'll be up to 600 miles in no time, plus have a nice little feel for the driving on the freeway (get used to the drivers side blind spot with the top up!). Just one little point to add - I didn't vtec until about 500 miles, and I've been fairly religious about my oil changes (never more than 3500 miles I believe), and my car dynoed slightly higher than most people at 212, with an air filter and throttle body mods (typically shown to increase hp MAYBE 2-10). Was this because I broke it in properly? Who knows. But it can't hurt anything, can it? Whereas I feel you can definitely hurt something ragging it out pre-500 miles.
Have fun with it!

One of the age old things you do to a car before putting it in storage is change the oil. Better to have clean oil sitting in there for many months than the old dirty contaminated oil.
