Hey OP,

I'll say this but its not based on anything I know specifically but I'd guess that the S2000 will be ending this year or next because of the release of the S2000 CR. It would be my guess that they are gearing up to stop production much like the NSX did and focus on a new model. Someone did say that they could produce 6000 more this year and label them as 2008 models but I doubt it. Its been 8 years of production on the same car esthetically so I'd guess a new revised car/bodywork will appear also because there are more and more convertible models on the market which may be taking sales from Honda.

Also in the Honda advertising literature there is no sign of the S2000 and Acura did this too with the NSX towards the end. Also you only saw the Acura Integra Type R towards the end of its life much like your seeing this new S2000 CR model....hmmm makes me wonder.

Honda sales of the S2000 are slipping too every year so read into it what you like. I predict a soon remodel or redesign.

The OP asked how honda could stop production this year yet still sell cars in 2008. I explained how it could be done. Eitherway, honda will be making 2008 cars in 2007. They will start selling 2008 S2000s in the fall of 2007, just like the sold 07MY in fall of 2006.
