My 03 has the air pump, I typically wait for that to turn off before I go.. Then I take it easy pushing the revs slightly higher as the temp creeps up. About a minute or two after 3 bars I get into VTEC and then the fun begins..

I usually wait till there is 2 bars and then go and keep the revs under 5k until there are 3 bars and then your good to go.

Go right away, shift at 2500 until 3 bars, no VTEC until 8 bars, back to shifting at 2500 coming home from strip bars.

I usually start the car, buckle up, put my phone in the centre console, pull out my parking pass, turn on the lights if needed (I do all these in a calm fashion), and then drive off.

By the time I do all that, it's about a good 30 seconds. The engine would go from its highest revs to mabye down 100-200rpm? The engine usually sounds different, and then I drive off.

I guess you could say I do warm up my car? But I don't sit there for 4 to 5mins to warm it up.

There is one thing though. I try to turn off the A/C when I turn off the car. So when I start, I don't start with the A/C on. And neither do I turn the AC on immediately on if I need to go up a hill right after startign the car in the summer. Just my habit

Im still new so correct me if im wrong....

But isnt "3 bars" just the reading for the coolant temps? The oil itself would take much longer to get to operating temperature for vtec use, no?

Oh and I start the car, buckle my belt, adjust the radio and go. I normally wait for the RPMs to drop before I do. Then rev at lower RPMs for awhile.

Start, take it easy, and go. The highway is about a mile from my house, so it brings it up to at least 2 bars before I hit the highway.

There really isn't a point to sit and warm up the car.
