It wasn't the differential, it's the axle...

True, but even so, most economy cars' axles will hold up to repeated abuse with 3-400 hp, kinda scary when a RWD *sprts* car can't.

There are plenty of 10-11 second integras, eclipses, sentras etc. that have well over 300 at the wheels (most around 400) running on stock axles, making well more torque than a sc'd s2k, and dropping the clutch at 6k with huge slicks on, not some little street tires.
Shing, they're running on huge slicks cutting 1.7 60fts, and making almost as much torque as hp... I think it's fair to say there's a lot more stress there than the s2k can put on it's axles... I personally have never broken an axel nor do I know anyone who has... heck even the RWDers like MR2's don't have this problem til they approach 400hp.

That's one reason I'm not too excited about modifying my engine...it seems like SC's expose weak links all along the way to the rear tires. Supras, RX-7's, C5's etc. are much better choices if you want to make serious power.
Chris S,
Just wondering, how do we know the axle broke because it was from the extra HP from the SC. What if it broke because of the repeated launches at 6K RPM. That would mean that we could all have broken axles if we all launched are cars at 6K RPMs repeatedly.

If other cars can handle significant power boosts, that's great, but Honda only owes us a drivetrain that handles the stock engine.
