can anyone comment on what the patches look like from the outside? is it noticeable that there is a patch reinforcement on the inside?

^^^^ Depending on how bad the tear was you might be able to see it slightly up close. but the glue dries clear. Make sure to use black fabric though.

If my dealer offered to fix the wear holes if I left, that's exactly what I'd do.

Well, I haven't developed wear holes, but I can see wear marks on the inside rear passenger side of the soft top. I read that there's also a TSB for the soft top to sand down some sharp parts of the support beams, but I was feeling around and didn't feel any sharp parts. Does this look like the typical wear spot caused by the sharp edges? Also, anyone who's done the soft top TSB themselves, which bars generally need to be smoothed, as I didn't really notice any sharp edges, but maybe I missed the spot.

Finally, for those who applied contact patches to prevent a hole from developing in the top, does anyone have pictures as to exactly where and how large the patches are?

Here are some pics of the wear mark on the passenger side:

Any tips on applying the patches/wear pads are very much appreciated!

buy a piece of someones chopped up soft top and use loctite. You're gonna want to put the loctite all over the patch itself and guide at least 1/4 of it under that bar (so that the up and down motion doesn't rip the patch off)

Just bought an 05 S2k with 12500 miles on the car. No wear or tear spots on it when I bought it. Opened and closed the top about 10 times and now im starting to see a hole.

Going to take it to Honda to see if I can get it replaced under the certified used honda warranty.
