Isn't that just crazy? My MY00 top is still in great shape.
I wonder if there might not be some kind of quality control issue at work here.

The issue does go back to the early AP1's, and it does generally seem to be related to the spider (the frame that supports the top) rather than the top material. Some of the spiders just seem to have places that rub through the material, and while it's not always in the same place, it's almost always in one of a number of very specific places. It seems to me that this is just shoddy quality control with the spiders, and I think Honda has the tops built by another company (but I'm not sure and would appreciate it if anyone could confirm or refute).
I honestly did not realize that the problem had gotten worse with later cars. Sorry to hear about that.
Jason B, the problem seems common if you read posts here on S2kI, but it hasn't been common enough among the general population of S2000 owners to make a mark in the reliability reports from places like J D Power, and I think we get a bit of a distorted perspective here. If the problem were really that common I have to belive that it would show up in the independent reliablity polls. Know what I mean?

Not sure, but the problem is actually coming from a burr on the top frame. Not a defect in the top material.
It wasn't the issue this time however. Rather, it was that the glass seperated from the canvas. Who woulda thought?????
Robbins is making good on it though.

how long did it take them to replace your top? I'm experiencing the wear hole already. Its more torward the back on the passenger side. The car only has 3k on the odo and its a 2006. At first the top wouldn't go all the way down and I found out that the middle bar wasn't pulling it back for it to fold correctly. Anyways, don't know if I should wait til the hole punches through or take it in there now when its close to. let me know. Thanks.

Geez, 3+ days to do an install? my local shops all quoted in and out on the same day. It is listed as 8 hrs on the books. I wonder what their deal is. Hey, as long as they get it right and you have a loaner its all good.
