Weight
I have been reading a lot of post about adding power. ALOT of post. Rarely do I see anyone bring up weight. I think people over look car weight all to often when modding, especially our cars. We could benefit so much by getting rid of some of the bulk. You will benefit 100% of the time from less weight vs part of the time by adding power. Weight directly effects all performance aspects that I can think of. Many mods that reduce weight serves dual purpose as well. I'm not saying gut your interior or a/c either. Why do so few put effort into reducing weight as a mod? Why does this not seem to enter peoples minds when they want better performance? Its always HP and torque?
Rant:
Why do so many people on here think that this car is a slug? I agree the S wasn't built for the 1/4 mile, but that doesn't mean it can't run a decent 1/4 mile time. I really don't understand why people hand out the buy a Mustang etc (insert generic muscle car here) comments so often. They are not that much faster, if any in stock form. Sure they have tons of torque and horsepower but many are pigs. Many of these muscle cars are over 3200 pounds. I guess my point is its not all about power.
(here it comes

The S2k is an overweight pig compared to what it should be. But I'm not prepared to strip it to the bone to get weight out of it, it's my daily driver.
Weight is the FIRST thing in my mind when I think about performance, which is why it took me so long to get an S. So little utility, yet so much weight...
In the end, it is usually much easier and more practical to add meaningful power, than to eliminate a meaningful amount of weight in a STREET car.
