hmmmm. maybe ill just try and fine a nice low mileage MY03. maybe a NFR or GPW. all this CDV and PP and flywheel talk is really making me think that the AP2 might not have the light feeling that the F20.

this is harder than i thought. i really have to go out and drive one i guess.
Yeah... I really recommend just test driving it. The CDV really isn't bad at all if you shift correctly.

But test drive both and get a feel for it and see what's up.

After getting use to the CDV I don't have a problem with it. You don't have to feather the clutch at all now when shifting 1-2 and 2-3, just dump it and go. Make sure you are done with your clutch before mashing the gas though or you can slip... a lot.

I agree that the car needs a lighter fly and heavier PP.

not trying to start any wars or whatever, please dont get the idea that i hate the AP2 but....

CDV = worst/stupidest thing EVAR!!!!

if you shift REALLY fast on the AP1 and do the same thing on the AP2, EVERY shift will have a lag (slips the clutch for lik .5-1 second).

i consider myself a pretty fast shifter after driving my MY2000 for about 3 years now. when i test drove the AP2, i instantly hated the CDV. if i somehow end up with the AP2, i will most definitely take the CDV out.

if you like the hard ride of the AP1, you will need some time to get used to the "softness" of the AP2. Although it still has the hardness, its not quite AP1 hard. You also do lose a bit of steering response as "Elistan" has mentioned earlier. you just dont feel AS connected with the road like the AP1

one of the fun things about the AP2 though. is for some reason, i can get the tail coming out WAYYYY easier then my AP1. Although they have softened the rear to make it less tail happy. im guessing with the extra torque it helps the rear tires break lose. in other words. the AP2 is really easy to drift in the dry lol.

the BEST thing to do is to test drive one, or better yet, find someone that has done the CDV removal and see if they will let you drive their car.

p.s. the added torque is awesome!!!!, 8k redline sucks lol. i hit the limiter a couple times when i first test drove one lol. its something i could get used to though.

anyways, good luck!!!!

i have a 2004 car. i am not aware of problems that needed to be worked out with a "new model year". the clutch deal is no issue for me, i do what i want with the car and have no issued with the trans or rear end....sorry i guess i just missed those problems and issues.

these are great cars....drive a 2004-2005 and then go drive a newer one with the throttle by wire, etc...compare and get back to us with your observations. i would imagine the 2004-05 cars are near identical.

oh..i drove a 2001 and 2003 car. liked them both and then went out and bought a 2004 car without even test driving it...easier to live with every day and just as fast.

I removed the CDV, installed a Spec lightweight PP, and a Proautosport 7lb flywheel
