We're a Fortunate Bunch
I was thinking this morning while mowing my lawn, how fortunate we've been that we've had the money to experience the thrill of owning an s2k. We've all had people question us about our car and seen the envy in their face, knowing they'll never get to drive one, much less own one. That brought another thought to my mind....The 100's of thousands of people that have been laid off this year and the kids that won't have a Christmas through no fault of their own. Every year we hear about the Harley riders etc that make runs for Toys for Tots. Wouldn't it be great if the s2k world could ban together by holding some kind of fund raisers, distribution of toys etc. I've never been involved in anything like this, so don't know what would be involved or how we'd do it, but I will gladly be an active participant and do whatever I can to help.
If anyone else would be interested, I'd enjoy hearing your comments.

What a great idea. I'd love to help out with organizing an event like this. Hear are my ideas:
We need to come up with two or three central locations where we can get a good number of s2k members/enthusiasts to congregate and give the presents together as a group. SO we need to A) come up with good locations (cali, tri-state area, and texas are my votes) and B) get reps from each area to be a point of contact to help with a managerial structure.
We can use this website to gather volunteers, and I believe it's important to not exclude it to only s2k members, since not everyone (in fact the vast majority) on this website owns an s2k.
We should also look into getting news coverage. That could make subsequent year's events bigger and even more productive.
I'm in all the way. I'll volunteer to be a point of contact and attempt to get in touch with charities and local news stations.
I say any volunteers who would like to participate please post a reply and we can start to work out some of the details, like giving the event an official name, chosing charities, what we would like to donate, etc.

Great idea. I know that the local Porsche club does events benefiting charities in Mineral Wells, a small town out west a bit where a lot of autocrosses get run.
Such activities would be a good thing for the S2000 club...

For Sure MAN!! I'm only 21 and I am so glad to have the opportunity to drive such a wonderful car. I try everyday to really appreciate even the simple things, to not take things for granted. I agree, we are a fortunate bunch, a very fortunate bunch!
