actually, the black factory grill that is in the front is cut to fit the lights, then the lights are screwed into that piece. The factory grill is mounted to the bumper, so it can be taken out, cut to fit the lights, then mounted back in.

I actually will be taking my bumper off this winter to do my headlights, and fix the fogs. The drivers side one is not mounted well, so it moves around a little bit. If I remember, I will take some pics of how they are mounted for you!
