Default S2000 sticker shock

My dad brought a car magazine over from Ireland containing all the new car prices.

Honda S2000 - Euro 59,600. That's $77,621 at today's exchange rate.

I wonder how they can possibly get away with that? It doesn't seem like very competetive pricing.

Selling anything in the Eurozone is extremely expensive and risky. Europe is overly consumer friendly/anti-business. And the taxes.... don't even get me started.

Cheers

Yeah, the EU made them get rid of VAT (I think it was 48% on a new car), so they renamed it to VRT (Vehicle Registration Tax) and still nail you.

A Lexus LS430 is over $250,000. Even a Honda CR-V goes for over $50,000.

The EU is not about being competitive. It's a Marxist roadmap back through socialism to complete communism.

I could be wrong. I learned my history from public school.

Weakening Dollar exchange rate is to blame.
Between Euro and JPY that is about what you expect to pay in Europe.
When I was in Greece this summer, new car price showed 38,000 EURO for brand new S2000 in Greece. I am sure price is different from place to place.

But yeah, cars are generally cheaper here in US.

Asian countries for example, you'd expect to pay well over $150,000 for S500 and $300,000 or more for Porsche 911.

Where at? In the UK, the LS430 retails for 56,000 pounds, which works out to only $104,000. Not even half of what you said.

I'm not doubting you, I'm just curious as to which contries are actually selling quarter million dollar LS430s.
