here's the deal guys i've been doin alot of reading and heard many different answers. i wanna buy a cai people say aem you can get hydrolock and if you buy the bypass valve there is no hp gain at all so what's the point right? then i heard that k&n won't hydrolock cuz where it sit under the hood. so basically my question is i don't even want to take a chance of hydrolock make it sound loud at WOT and gain a few horses. since you guys are the experts what CAI do you guys recommend oh and i don't wanna spend a whole lot o loot a couple hundred.. thanks in advance guys

if your saying you want it loud at WOT. (kinda confusing) get the K&N drop in filter. if you dont really care about hp and just want noise remove the airbox top.

Why don't you save your money and get a test pipe instead? This way, you'll actually notice that you added a mod to the car.

Unless you drive through small lakes you won't hydrolock with an AEM. All that you need to do is plug a small drain hole on the passenger side inner fender rain channel with a rubber stopper. This is where all those threads came from withn "I got water in my AEM intake tube." The AEM V2 sounds very deep at WOT, but if you would like something that stays in the engine bay then you can go with Comptech or K&N. The K&N sounds nice, not as nice as AEM IMO, and the comptech is a little more on the quiet side, but there is no chance of hydrolock, even if you drive through a small lake.

That's the trouble with "hearing" stuff. You just never know what is true and what isn't.
First, you need to do your own first hand homework and assess the situation yourself. Go look at the different types of CAI and how they are installed and how they draw air in. Then ask yourself, "Why would a K&N FIPK be any less chance of hydrolock than a Comptech?" They both draw air from the same place and if anything, the Comptech has a lid and the K&N uses your hood as the lid.
Furthermore, an AEM is fine if you take the necessary precautions like plugging the drain hole in the hood gutter and installing an "umbrella" and not driving through water that would be higher than what the filter sits at.
So, as you can see, there is conflicting information based on what you've "heard". Without a bit of common sense and your own investigation, you can't believe anyone. Heck, you can't even believe what I just said.
