- Replaced bad OEM alt with Reman Denso alt. I’m planning to keep the old OEM one just in case, and refub it as needed
- Replaced S-belt with OEM
- Replaced shot battery with new OEM (battery was shot from the bad alt, flickering dash)
- Installed Nachi bearing in tensioner pulley
- Cleaned up the grounds near the headlights with some contact cleaner, it was FITHLY!
Happy to report dash no longer flickers, and charging system is working as it should!
I lexoled my seats on Friday and someone had spilled on my passenger floor mat on Monday so I had cleaned it and had it hung up to dry so put that back in also and noticed it seems to be a tight fit.
Today I checked the fluids and popped open the airbox and all is well. Will be taking it out this evening.
Finished the DIY intake ive been talking about for years. In terms of diameter, diminishing returns is a thing but bottom line it made 2 hp from 6000-8000 over K&N and AEM off the shelf units. Drivability is obviously diminished around town but at the track I like it. Only works with the OEM rad which is no issue for my stock engine. I didnt do anything ground breaking or even practical but had fun developing it.
The first itteration came straight down off the TB into a radius bend but rubbed the hood heat padding.
The second itteration was basically this going between the fan with silicon couplers. It fixed the hood rub but getting it to fit without hitting the fans and ac lines was tough. Both were ziptied to the chassis.
This is the third one fit perfect and welded. I used a coupler clamp mount nut-serted to the chassis with a rubber isolator. Besides the reducer at the TB, a silicone flexi-coupler at the wheel well opening is the only coupler in the setup and usefull to take up the movement from the engine mounts. Bonus is my son's Lightning McQueen place mat i used as a rain deflector / air box. He's 3 and loves it.
