White lithium greased all my convertible joints and Shin-etsu'd all my rubber seals
Also installed my custom trunk storage liner. (posterboard + automotive carpet + storage net FTW) to cover my trunk dynamat job. Couldn't find the Muz saddlebag for sale so had to ghetto rig my own : /
I just did a compression test on the GPW with good results, 230/220/230/230. Then changed the spark plugs since I was there and none of my records I’d received indicated they’d been done before
Replaced my cracked and marked red rollover bars and plastics. Required the seats and console and rear shelf all to be removed then replaced. Took my time 6hrs
Replaced my worn top straps with some new ones from Modifry. The entire job took about a half hour start to finish and that was taking my time and being careful. Makes a world of difference on how the top comes down and sits when its retracted.
Replaced the coil pack, spark plugs, and put in new parking lights, even though one of them is not working. Car runs a lot better because it was taking forever to get up and go.
Finally had some time and a day that wasn't blisteringly hot out to head out to the garage. I prefer to do things in waves so if I have parts that are going within the same vicinity I try to do it all at once. Since I was in the bay doing the timing chain tensioner swap I figured I'd do the cam bolt O-ring as well. Mine wasn't leaking but it's 16+ years old so I figured good preventative maintenance. Also decided to regrease the shifter and replace the pivot ball, basket, and spring. Apparently the spring wasn't necessary but I ordered it with all of the other stuff anyway, it was only a few dollars. Since the shifter was out it gave me easy access to replace my headunit as well. Unfortunately I can't get the DCI to work but meh, it'll all get done in due time.
Blue painters tape to remind me to torque the bolts to proper spec (was waiting for my digital torque wrench to come in)
Purchased new tires for the car. The 4 year old Super Sports lasted 22K miles. Got the Michelin 4S this time around. This month was the $70 off Michelin sale and yesterday Costco ran a $1 per tire installation and balance sale so I saved $130 on the total of 4 new tires.
Bottom line was $ 769; $55 of that was sales tax of California.
Will be installed when they show up next week.
The inside edge of the rear tires always seem to be the most vulnerable to wear. Had looked carefully a month or so ago and all seemed fine but getting close. Looked again after a road trip to the coast and noticed the edge was failing. Next drive is straight to Costco for replacement.
