Cosmo - do your rear tires last as long as your fronts? Did you get 22K miles on one set of rear tires?

The 4S's look good. From comparisons they look like biggest improvement from PSS is wet performance.
In the spring I'm going to replace my PSS's with Potenza RE-71R's

I had DZs before these and I got 16k miles out of them. They had the same wear pattern. I might add that I have had several alignments all to standard specs. The inside edge of the rears go first. The DZs failed on the road (nothing spectacular, just a fast deflation). When I get home I will post a picture of those at that time. I was surprised at the time because a quick glance at the fronts, especially when they are parked at an angle and seeing the outside edge of the rears, gave me the feeling that all was fine with the tires. Not so.
With that experience I have been keeping an eye on the rears of my SSports. Sure enough they have worn in the same way.
The fronts in both cases have worn evenly but much less than the rears. Not down to the wear bars yet. As these Super Sports are 41/2 years old, I have no problem replacing all 4 tires. I have heard from others that drive more miles than I do that they might swap out the rears and let the fronts go longer.

My experience so far is that after having good in spec alignments, I get around 10K out of the rears, and 18-20 K out of the fronts. They wear fairly evenly except the right rear always wears a bit faster than the the left rear. So, I rotate left to right now. That helps. Lately I have been buying two sets of rears and one set of fronts when I buy tires. That gets me through about 18K or 20K miles with typical good summer tires (I don't use 200 treadwear tires). I agree that you need to get down on the ground and take a good look at your tires treadwear every now and then because its hard to see unless you get down on the ground, or pull the wheels, especially the rears.

The Super Sports (from what I read when I got them) are unidirectional so you cannot go side to side. The 4Ss are only limited to inside/outside edge so you can swap out on the same axle for us.

Just picked them up from Costco. Different road feel than the Super Sports. It feels like the power steering was increased in that the effort to change direction is almost gone. When I took the usual turns coming home, one being a decreasing radius/increased bank, it tracked extremely well and felt like there was much more grip available than the usual way I make that turn in Sports. Amazing tires. Only have 9 miles on them and looking forward to the rest!

FYI
PSS are not directional. So you can swap them to either side per axle. The PS4S is the same.

Just replaced my top - well, Jeremy did - and he did an outstanding job. For anyone in the NJ or surrounding area, I highly recommend him! Took about 3 1/2 hours and he knows exactly how to disassemble/reassemble and all the tricks in between. Very gracious and allowed me to hang our and shoot the bull with him while he worked.

Went with the Robbins cloth top - it's beautiful!

I drove mine today :P Going to be all of 50 degrees for a high today. Getting in some more driving before the end of the season. 3 more autox events in Oct and she pretty much goes into sleep mode after that unless November turns out nicer than expected. We are seeing lower temps than normal for this time of year. First frost was Sat morning ... :

While I like to start thinking of the snowboard coming out ... hate to see the car stuff season come to an end. Me thinks I need to set up some car for ice racing this winter before the lakes freeze!
