What does the AC Vent Setting for the Top-Down buy me?

Don't forget to rol the windows up when using this setting. It helps keep more of the cold/hot air in.

Thanks Captain Obvious. Actually, I did read the owner's manual before posting. It says to use this setting with the top down as it directs air through the vents, blah, blah. Wow. That is helpful. What it does not say (unless I missed it) is how directing the air through these vents improves top-down conditions. It just says 'this is best'. I want to know why it is better than the other settings. Hence my posting of this question. Does your manual have an extended fold-out explaining the dymanics of top-down air flow in relation to AC fan settings? Or is my question valid after all?

It sounds like you are all missing the best use for this setting!

Try this! With short pants, and A/C on, set the selector to top down mode, and the fan on high, pull up on your right pant leg until it catches the air from the vent over the stereo. You will now feel a cool breeze go up one pant leg and down the other, keeping the family jewels nice and cool on those hot summer days.
