Zaino is called a polish, by it's inventors. Typically a polish is a compound that contains ingredients that enhance the looks of the car's finish (oils, etc). Zaino is not a typical polish, since it not only enhances the finish, but protects it as well. Normal polishes do not protect the finish, they only make it look good.

If you were going to use a normal polish, you would need to follow that up with a wax application to protect the finish. With Zaino, you do not want to use any wax. This is a polymer based polish and doesn't use any carnauba waxes. Another similar product is Finish First. It is a polymer based polish that protects the finish also.

A fair number of owners, including myself, think that Zaino is probably as good as it gets, and most of them spend a fair amount of time "Zainoing" their cars. But that is not because Zaino is hard to apply. It is easy to apply, or more specifically, it is easy to remove (and works best) if you let it dry completely. Its just that since you don't see it on store shelves or in advertising, most people who find out about it and buy it are somewhat fanatic about having the finish on their cars look as good as it possibly can. They are happy to spend the time to try to achieve that. Although there is obviously a point of dimishing returns, the more coats of Zaino, the better it looks. The compounding effect of multiple layers of polish seems more pronounced with Zaino. So they, ah...we, are willing to take the time to mix ZFX with the polish or apply a polish lock before the first coat of polish, put on multiple coats of polish, Z6 between coats of polish and after washing, etc. Its a labor of love.

Take note that this is a finish-oriented product, ie...you can't tell if I have Zaino on my car or not unless you touch it...it's silver , now on red...

i had a silver TL and all the hard work of waxing never paid off, unless you touched it...
now on a yellow s2k... would all the work pay off by looks or only by touch...
i know black is the most satisfying color when clean... but i have yellow...
can anyone recommend what i should purchase for a yellow s2000...
Z1 Z2 and Z7?
will that help remove all the black dead bugs that are hard as hell to remove or should those be removed before i apply any zaino at all??????
btw, can somone specify was the Z1 and 2 and so on even means? or is that just the name of it... what does z1, 2 and 7 do?
can i only get zaino online?

I forgot to mention - If you are going to use Zaino, go to their site www.zainobros.com and read everything on the site. Then go back and read the application instructions and the "tips and tricks" sections again. It is not difficult at all, but you have to follow the instructions to get superior results. What you do not want to do is spend a good deal of time and money and get less than optimum results because you screwed up the application. If you have a question after reading, it doesn't hurt to ask here, but you can email them and they respond quickly. Even the "Zaino faithful" may use slightly different procedures. Read the stuff and form your own opinion first.

And S2Kguy, you are right. On a red...

go to some linen outlet store like Strouds and pick up a few white 100% made in USA bath towels. i too don't think the Z-6 glass enhancer spray makes that much difference on metallic paint - can't even tell the diff on my (other) white car.

the difference zaino makes on metallic paint may be harder to detect, but you can sure feel it. my S was getting "felt up" at a recent group drive! i'm just happy knowing the paint's well protected.
