What factors would render your s2000 as a good DD?
The women in my life, and others always compliment my car; moreover I get some head turns while i'm driving down the street. The trunk space is decent for a car the size that it is. Besides I feel like i'm "speed racer" in this thing.
I think it depends on your tolerance. Some people care about the road noise, comfort, etc.
To me, if the S2000 has a hardtop, I'm generally okay with it. Personally don't have an issue with the S being a DD -- although mine isn't one hahahahha.
The ride quality is fine with me ... it's just the noise level that gets me. i.e. when I drive in the city, and these double decker buses and big trucks drive next to me ... I couldn't hear a thing from my radio

I need comfort, the ability to see all the other drivers so I can avoid their mistakes, good ground clearance, multiple 12v, storage room for signs & tools, the ability to take multiple passengers, A/C & radio, something I don't mind (as much) getting door dings and scratches on, the ability to hear the other person on a phone call, etc.
My Pilot fits this category much better.
The S2000 is strictly for fun/enjoyment on the weekends, auto-x or occasional track.

The S2000 can be a wonderful DD. Its rawness is easily tolerable for me. I can make it work. But I worry about all the idiots on the freeway constantly. I would much rather my Civic become a victim of stupidity than my S2000.
I daily drive my S2000 50 miles a day, but prior to that I drove a Honda 1000rr to work just about daily. Whenever I drive something fun to work like the S2000 or a motorcycle, I can daydream about the ride home all day long. LOL
My S2000 doesn't have any rattles, unless you leave the passenger seat belt flying about.
The only upgrades I made for daily driving was
1) installed seat heaters
2) aftermarket stereo/amps/speakers
3) exhaust with silencer for daily driving, without for everything else.

You could DD the car, but I wouldn't because of road noise, blind spots, visibility, comfort, and the roads aren't that fun on the way to work. LMAO. I don't need a ding in it, and I don't have enough room to pack my junk for work.
When I bought the car, I knew it wasn't a DD. But I plan on adding it to a Friday commute to make me feel free from my job.
Like Dankee says: aftermarket or upgrade in stereo to be a DD at a minimum.
