What happened to the resale value?
I've been debating selling my 02 lately because the car is standing in the way of me getting a lakehouse...which is more fun than a nice car to me. The problem is, I bought the car 2 years ago with $70k miles for $18k and thought I absolutely stole the car from the dealer. Now the car has 100k miles on it and is worth like $10k. WTF happened?!?! A brand new car doesn't have that much depreciation over 2 years.
Is it just because the economy is low or what?

Man it's been fun but I really wish I had spent my money another way now...
Should've gone with the girly BMW Z3 or the porsche boxster...both were $3-5k cheaper then and worth more now. What a load of manure.
BTW, I agree with your sig completely. I made a lot of compromises and worked hard to get this car and I gotta say I am a bit sour now that I see what all of that got me 2 years later.

it's not just you dude. it's the whole economy. 2 years ago was a whole different ball game but i still think you got jipped paying 18k for an 02 with 70k on it from the start.
unless you really need the money just keep the car man. probably worth more to you than 10-11k anyway.

Selling a used car, especially a sports car, is a real pain.
Everyone assumes a private seller beat on it, there is a very narrow market, and most of those buyers have the cash to just shop at dealers.
Right now, not many people are looking for "weekend toys", and lets face it, that's all a 100k+ mile S2K is. It has too many miles to be a commuter car, and is too broken in for those with money to consider. It's a bad nitche.
Buying a sports car is always a trap unless you sell it with super-low mileage. Unless you plan on driving it until the wheels fall off (like I do), you need to accept that you'll be losing a ton of money on it.
