What Happened to the S2000 Community?
That's because a "young" corvette owner is 40. They have kids, mortgage and a career. They have more in common with an "older" corvette owner. A young s2k owner is 19. They just have nothing in common with the typical 35+ Owner.
I really enjoy reading everyone's perspective on this matter. It's quite interesting to know that it's not just me who happens to feel this way about our community and how things are as of late.
So it's no question that we clearly see what's happening to our community now, do you guys feel as if there's nothing we can do about this obvious shift?

Any who... I'm agreeing with them. The stance kids are not really helping the s2000 community. And on fb its just a shitfest of people yelling at each other and reposts about questions that have been answered.
Shoot, where I live I will wave or nod at a Miata, MG, 56 Cadillac or even a Porche with the top down and I pretty much always get one back. It is just the acknowledgement that it is a beautiful day to drive top down and we know something others don't!
Our local community still has its strong bonds for the most part.
Still see the occasional wave or headlight flash, which is nice after not seeing it for a few years.
But I have definitely noticed the downward slope it's taken since joining 11 years ago...hence why people call me an asshole on the FB pages because I let a dipshit know they're being a dipshit
Sucks, but I guess that's what happens when the resale value drops, there's new fads and trends internet attention whores need to follow to feel appreciated with e-likes, and this new generation in general wants everything now instead of over time and have zero care for whether they're buying a cheap knockoff or not. The strong desire for replica parts with these new owners bugs me, sorry not sorry. I'd rather appreciate something than be a cheapskate trying to fake the funk just to impress people over the web.

From my experience younger S2000 owners don't wave. they grew up texting and have no idea what a wave means.

Not really sure why there are so many issues between the rep people and the authentic people. Everyone has their own taste and budget. If a car looks good and is well put together who really cares how much they paid for certain parts. The majority of us are not millionaires and most of us have to save to buy the parts we want anyways. I have classes to pay for on top of other obligations. My hardtop is a mugen rep, the new wheels I just bought are varrstoens powdercoated in candy copper which I really wanted and only cost me around $1,500. I didn't have money to buy TE37s for 4K and powdercoat them on top of that. I love looking at my car, I can't remember a time that I don't look back at it once I park it. So if I find joy in the same car we all own, what does it really matter that my parts aren't as expensive?
This just bothers me not saying you in particular saying something bothers me but the whole argument that happens because of this; it creates a huge divide. I can appreciate any car that someone has put love into, even if it's not my personal taste.
Dang, those wheels must be something. I was feeling pretty good about redoing my wheels with Duplicolor!
